I want to be a tutor not only because I want to help students learn but because I believe in a way of teaching that promotes true understanding of a concept, which is a stronger tool than excersizing short-term memory. I personally strive to better understand the world and when I have an "aha!" moment, the understanding and acceptance of that concept helps me to be a better person. That is what I want to invoke in other students: not learning for simply a good grade, but learning that will stay with you and help you grow. I have gained a broad, conceptual knowledge at Cal Poly and my strongest subjects are math, physics and science.
