Current graduate student in Mathematics at CalPoly SLO, 3.9 GPA. Currently Teaching Pre-Calculus at CalPoly. BS in Mathematics from UC San Diego, 3.9 GPA. I was awarded the Undergraduate TA of the Year in 2012. I worked in the Palo Alto Public School District for a year with the special education department. Patience is critical in a role such as that and it inspired me that all students have an innate desire to learn. As educators, we simply need to find a way to let that curiosity shine through.
Experience
I have been an active tutor for over 8 years now. I enjoy the process of passing on knowledge through engaging in conversations as opposed to rote memorization. I specialize in removing math-phobia with younger individuals. I believe math is a process of logic and the more it can be taught as a puzzle, the sooner people will begin to enjoy it. I recently received a fellowship from CalPoly to ensure that I will teach every quarter for the university. The fellowship was awarded based on student evaluations, departmental reviews and promise of teaching trajectory.

Hobbies
I bring a very calm and low key vibe to my tutoring sessions. I am an avid volleyball player, a surfer and an aspiring home cook. I show up to tutoring sessions in board shorts more often than not and I believe it takes the edge off for most kids. Tutoring does not have to be a formal affair, it can be fun and light as long as the knowledge is being passed.
